Okay, so I live in the south. I am not particularly used to cold winters -- at least not the kind my family up north is used to. When an unprecedented snow storm hit my state a few weeks ago, I found myself utterly unprepared. I lacked even the basic essentials for keeping my son warm in those temperatures, and I felt trapped inside my house as a result.
I felt so sad that my adventurous little boy couldn't go outside and have a once in a lifetime experience for southerners like us -- fourteen inches of pure white snow. He pressed his little nose against the window and watched forlornly as a magical moment passed him by.
Not being able to take it any longer, I grabbed one of the Lenny Lamb fleece baby wearing sweatshirts that I had just procured for my store. I strapped my sweet toddler into his favorite onbuhimo, slipped the sweatshirt over both of our bodies, pulled the included hoods over our heads, and stepped out into the snow.
It might sound silly, but that was a profound moment for me as a mom. I felt like I had found a way to give my son the thrill he was pining for, while still keeping him safe and warm. I romped around in the snow with him squealing all the while. To my surprise, I actually found that I had worked up a bit of a sweat under that warm sweatshirt. I reached under the shirt and felt my son's little hands, and they were toasty as could be. He was warm, snug, and full of joy. What more could I have asked for?
When he indicated that he wanted to get down and play in the snow on his own, I removed the sweatshirt and took him out of his onbuhimo, but I left the little hoodie from the sweatshirt on his head (pictured below). He ran off to play in the snow with absolutely no fear. I happily watched him play, knowing that his little head, ears, and neck were staying nice and warm.
All around, it was a good day that we would have missed altogether if it hadn't been for the Lenny Lamb fleece baby wearing sweatshirt. Since then, I have worn this sweatshirt on several outings with my son. It took a few tries for me to get good at putting it on us without help from my husband, but now that I have the hang of it, it's a breeze! I wear it for everything from short trips from the car to the grocery store, or longer trips like shopping at the outdoor mall. Yes, we southerners still visit our outdoor malls even in the cold!
My own experiences, combined with the incredible feedback we've received from our customers, leads me to believe that this might be the best baby wearing accessory you can buy this winter. It's comfy, convenient, durable, and beautiful. It can be used for wearing infants and toddlers, and works in the front carry and back carry positions. The best part, hands down, is the included hood for baby and the beautiful woven scarf/hood for mom that comes in several of the most popular Lenny Lamb prints. We have several colors to choose from, ranging from size small to size 3XL. If you would like to check them out, visit our Lenny Lamb collection here.
